Peggy Martin Willis Augusta, GA Death-Obituary: In Loving Memory of Peggy Ann Martin Willis

Peggy Ann Martin Willis, 84, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on October 31, 1941, in Cookeville, Tennessee, Peggy later made her home in Warner Robins, Georgia, where she met and married the love of her life, James Michael “Mickey” Willis, Sr. Together they shared 65 devoted years of marriage before Mickey’s passing in December 2025. Their love was evident to all who knew them, and Peggy deeply missed him in the months that followed.

Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose family was always the center of her life. She was known for her spirited personality, sharp wit, and feisty sense of humor that remained with her even through a long battle with dementia.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: cooking for her family, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, collecting Precious Moments figurines and Christmas ornaments, golfing, and traveling with Mickey. Christmas was especially dear to her, and she celebrated the season with unmatched enthusiasm and generosity. Her southern cooking, particularly her fried chicken, fried pork tenderloin, and biscuits with chocolate syrup, created treasured family memories that will live on for generations.

Peggy loved classic country music and old gospel hymns, especially songs by Alan Jackson and Conway Twitty. Even in her final days, she could still sing the words to “I’ll Fly Away,” reflecting the faith that sustained her throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mickey; her son, Mark Dewey Willis; and her grandson, James Michael Willis III. She is survived by her sons, Mike Willis (Doraine) and Matt Willis (Pam); eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and her sister, Patsy Spinks. Her family finds comfort in the hope and promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
