Ginger Bernice Dickerson Gamble Riehl, 57, passed away on May 20, 2026, in Bismarck, North Dakota. Born on October 12, 1968, in San Antonio, Texas, she was the youngest of two children born to Otho Thomas “Tommy” and Mary Dickerson. From an early age, Ginger brought light, laughter, and warmth to those around her. Her family lovingly called her “Pooh,” a nickname inspired by her childhood delight in a large Winnie the Pooh display at Sears, a memory that reflected her joyful and affectionate nature.
Throughout her life, Ginger lived in many places, including Schertz, Devine, Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, Houston, Treasure Island, Crescent Mills, and Friendswood, but Texas always remained home in her heart. Wherever she went, she built meaningful, lasting friendships and left behind a legacy of kindness and connection.
Ginger shared 23 years of marriage with her high school sweetheart, Greg Gamble, with whom she welcomed her beloved daughter, Kaitlin. Later in life, she also shared her journey with her late husband, Thomas Riehl.
A passionate and gifted educator, Ginger dedicated her life to teaching Language Arts, Debate, and Soccer, and also served in administrative roles. Most recently, she taught High School English and Debate at Poth ISD, and she cherished her years at Watkins Middle School in Houston, where lasting friendships formed a true professional family. Her greatest joy in education was helping students build confidence and discover their potential.
Creativity was at the heart of everything Ginger did. Whether teaching, decorating, gardening, or storytelling, she had a natural ability to make ordinary moments unforgettable. She was known for her warmth, generosity, and ability to make everyone feel seen and welcomed.
In Crescent Mills, California, Ginger and her husband operated GiGi’s Market, a cherished community deli that became a local gathering place. During the Camp Fire, she selflessly helped feed firefighters and displaced residents, offering comfort and care during a time of crisis.
Ginger is survived by her daughter, Kaitlin Gamble Allen and husband Parker; her brother, Russell Thomas Dickerson and wife Bonnie; and a wide circle of family and friends who became family in her heart. She will be remembered for her laughter, resilience, creativity, and deep love for others.
