Amy Jo Young, 47, of Bloomfield, Iowa, passed away on May 23, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born on March 28, 1979 in Ottumwa, Iowa, she was the daughter of DeWayne Madison and Debra Sue Swanson Cason. Amy was raised in Davis County and graduated from Davis County High School in 1998, where she was known as a gifted and dedicated athlete.
On August 4, 2001, Amy married Joe Young, beginning a loving partnership that was blessed with two children, Sophia and Cason. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she embraced her role as a devoted wife and mother with unwavering love and pride. Amy made it a priority to be present at every event in her children’s lives, especially supporting their involvement in Davis County athletics.
Amy built a meaningful career working for Lynch Law Office in Bloomfield, where she was respected for her dedication and warm personality. Outside of work, she treasured time with family and friends, often creating lasting memories through vacations to Florida and Mexico. She enjoyed simple joys such as walking along the beach, collecting seashells, sharing seafood meals, and spending quality time with those she loved.
Known for her outgoing and welcoming spirit, Amy made friends wherever she went. Her home was always open as a gathering place for family, friends, and her children’s peers. She shared a particularly close bond with her daughter Sophia, often enjoying shopping and thrifting trips together. Her laughter, kindness, and vibrant presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Amy is survived by her husband, Joe Young; children, Sophia and Cason Young; her parents, DeWayne and Debra Cason; her brother, Jaime Cason; and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 28, 2026 at Bloomfield Christian Church.
